Nailing Down:
Goodrich can be secret nailed onto various timber subfloors, including solid wood flooring, plywood, OSB, particleboard, and securely adhered vinyl tile or non-cushioned resilient floors installed on a wood subfloor.

Gluing Down:
For direct gluing, Goodrich can be applied to concrete, ceramic tiles, terrazzo, metal, slate, marble, OSB, or plywood. Ensure the surface is rough or porous. Slick or sealed surfaces should be pre-sanded, especially gypsum and anhydrite screeds, to remove soft surface laitance. When gluing to concrete, use Woodpecker 11P Surface Primer for a strong bond. Gypsum or anhydrite screeds require additional preparation with Woodpecker Level-X Primer and Level-X levelling compound to remove soft surface laitance.

Floating:
A floating floor installation is suitable for concrete, anhydrite, existing wood floor chipboard, ceramic tiles, terrazzo, metal, PVC, linoleum, slate, marble, particleboard, OSB, and plywood subfloors (excluding carpet). Choose an underlay with a built-in damp-proof membrane, such as Floormate or Aquastop, based on the subfloor condition.

Is Berkeley flooring suitable for underfloor heating?

Yes, Berkeley flooring is compatible with underfloor heating when fully adhered.

How do I clean this lacquered Berkeley floor?

To maintain your Berkeley floor's lacquered finish, use our specially formulated cleaning liquid for lacquered floors. Alternatively, a well-wrung mop with water is suitable. Avoid using steam mops or other solutions.

Does Berkeley flooring need to acclimatize before installing?

Yes, we recommend allowing your Berkeley floor to acclimatize for 3 to 4 days in the installation room, remaining within the sealed packaging to prevent warping due to temperature changes. Avoid storing the flooring in damp or outdoor areas.

What condition should the subfloor be in for Berkeley flooring?

Ensure the subfloor is structurally sound, free from dampness, rot, or insect infestations, and flat, with no uneven areas exceeding 3mm over a 2m span. Vacuum and remove any debris before installation, and insulate hot pipes to prevent localized hotspots that may affect the flooring.

What expansion gaps does Berkeley flooring require?

Expansion gaps must be left wherever the boards meet a wall, structural support, or transitions between rooms. Use spacers during installation, allowing for a 2mm gap per meter span of the floor, with a minimum of 10-15mm. Extra provisions should be made for wider areas.

How can Berkeley floors be installed?

Berkeley floors offer flexibility in installation methods and can be glued, secret nailed, or floated.

What joints does Berkeley flooring have?

Berkeley flooring features tongue and groove joints for a secure fit during installation.

Can I install Berkeley flooring in my bathroom?

We generally advise against using engineered flooring in bathrooms due to moisture exposure.

How thick is Berkeley flooring?

Berkeley flooring boasts a thickness of 15mm, including a substantial 4mm real wood wear layer.

How much should I allow for wastage when installing Berkeley flooring?

We recommend allowing for 10% wastage, though this may vary based on room shape, laying style, and other factors. Always consult your installer for accurate measurements.

What does 'pack includes cut lengths' mean?

At least one plank within your pack will be cut in half intentionally, helping distribute joints across the floor and prevent weakening. The remaining planks will be of uniform length.
