Door Trimming and Fitting Guidelines

Trimming Limits:

Doors with 10mm or more lipping: Maximum trim of 6mm per side.
Doors with 6mm lipping: Maximum trim of 3mm per side.
Non fire-rated doors: Further trimming possible but may expose the core, which must be sealed or re-lipped.
Note: Trimming beyond these limits will void the guarantee.

Hardware Installation:

Avoid fitting locks or latches at rail or glazing bar joints to prevent weakening the door.
Use of Hinges: Recommend using three hinges for better rigidity and strength.

Fire-Rated Doors (FD30):

Must be installed per the fire certificate.
Fitter is responsible for ensuring intumescent strips or seals are installed as specified.
Finishing and Sealing Guidelines

Sealing Untreated Products:

Fully seal all surfaces, including tops, bottoms, and recesses for hinges, locks, handles, and letter plates, before hanging the door.
Unsuitable Sealants: Avoid using waxes, oils (e.g., Yacht varnish, Osmo Oil, Danish Oil), and water-based sealants. Using these will void the guarantee.

Pre-Finished Products:

Re-seal exposed areas after any alterations.
White primed products should receive a final top coat, especially where the priming was removed.
Preparation for Finishing:

Lightly sand, de-nib, and clean all surfaces before the initial sealing and before applying the final coat.
Consistency in Finishing: Use the same manufacturer/brand for all coats to avoid reactions and ensure full sealing. Mixing products will void the guarantee.
