Nailing Down:
Goodrich can be secret nailed onto various timber subfloors, including solid wood flooring, plywood, OSB, particleboard, and securely adhered vinyl tile or non-cushioned resilient floors installed on a wood subfloor.

Gluing Down:
For direct gluing, Goodrich can be applied to concrete, ceramic tiles, terrazzo, metal, slate, marble, OSB, or plywood. Ensure the surface is rough or porous. Slick or sealed surfaces should be pre-sanded, especially gypsum and anhydrite screeds, to remove soft surface laitance. When gluing to concrete, use Woodpecker 11P Surface Primer for a strong bond. Gypsum or anhydrite screeds require additional preparation with Woodpecker Level-X Primer and Level-X levelling compound to remove soft surface laitance.

Floating:
A floating floor installation is suitable for concrete, anhydrite, existing wood floor chipboard, ceramic tiles, terrazzo, metal, PVC, linoleum, slate, marble, particleboard, OSB, and plywood subfloors (excluding carpet). Choose an underlay with a built-in damp-proof membrane, such as Floormate or Aquastop, based on the subfloor condition.

What styles can I lay this herringbone floor in?
You can lay this Goodrich floor in various styles including single herringbone, double herringbone, ladder pattern, 90-degree angle, or brickbone pattern. It can also be used as a border around a section of Goodrich herringbone.

Does my Goodrich floor need to acclimatise before installing?
Yes, we recommend letting your Goodrich floor acclimatise for 3 to 4 days before installation. It should remain in the same room in sealed packaging to prevent warping due to temperature changes. Avoid storing the flooring outdoors or in damp areas.

What condition should the subfloor be in?
The subfloor beneath a Woodpecker natural wood floor must be structurally sound, free from damp, rot, fungal, or insect infestation, and contaminating residues. It should be flat with uneven areas not exceeding 3mm over a 2m area.

What expansion gaps does Goodrich flooring need?
Goodrich flooring requires expansion gaps wherever the boards meet a wall, structural support, stairs, or other features. Spacers should be placed at regular intervals during installation and removed before skirting boards or trims are installed.

How thick is Goodrich flooring?
Goodrich flooring is 15mm thick with a 4mm real oak wear layer.

How do I clean my Goodrich floor?
You can use our cleaning kit for oiled floors or a well-wrung damp mop to clean your Goodrich floor.

Is Goodrich flooring harder to install than plank flooring?
Yes, patterned flooring like herringbone or chevron is generally more complex to install than traditional straight plank flooring. We recommend choosing an experienced installer for best results.

Can I use underfloor heating with Goodrich flooring?
Yes, Goodrich is suitable when fully stuck down.

How can Goodrich floors be installed?
Goodrich can be floated, glued, or secret nailed.

What joints does Goodrich flooring have?
Goodrich floors have tongue and groove joints.

Can I use Goodrich flooring in my bathroom?
We generally wouldn’t recommend using engineered flooring in a bathroom.

How much should I allow for wastage?
We recommend 10-15% wastage for Goodrich floors, but this can vary based on room shape, laying style, and other factors, so always check with your installer first.
