A floating floor can be installed over:

(Note: Floating floors cannot be installed over carpet.)

The type of underlay needed depends on the subfloor condition. However, for most installations, we recommend using an underlay with a built-in damp-proof membrane.

Additional Notes

• Plank Floors: Suitable for floating, secret-nailing, or gluing down.
• Herringbone Floors: Typically glued down but can be floated under the right circumstances.

Always refer to the manufacturer's fitting guides for the appropriate installation method.

Does my Salcombe floor need to acclimatise before installing?

Yes, allow your Salcombe floor to acclimatise for 3 to 4 days in the room where it will be installed, keeping it in the sealed packaging to prevent warping due to temperature changes. Avoid storing it outdoors, in outbuildings, or in damp areas.

Is Salcombe flooring suitable for underfloor heating?

Yes, Salcombe flooring is compatible with underfloor heating.

What type of joint does Salcombe have?

Salcombe flooring uses easiloc/click-joints.

How can Salcombe be installed?

Salcombe flooring can only be installed using the floating method.

What does 'pack includes cut lengths' mean?

This means at least one plank in your pack will be cut in half to help distribute the joints across your floor, preventing weakening. The other planks will be the same length.

Does Salcombe flooring need expansion gaps?

Yes, due to wood's natural expansion and contraction, leave expansion gaps wherever the boards meet a wall, structural support, stairs, etc. Use spacers during fitting and remove them before installing skirting boards, beading, or trims. Allow a 2mm gap for every meter span, with a minimum of 10-15mm gap. For areas over 5m wide, additional expansion provisions are necessary.

What condition should the subfloor be in?

The subfloor must be structurally sound, free from damp, rot, fungal or insect infestation, and contaminants. It should be flat with no uneven areas exceeding 3mm over a 2m span. Vacuum thoroughly to remove debris before fitting. Insulate hot pipes to prevent localised hotspots that can warp the flooring.

How do I clean my Salcombe floor?

Use our cleaning kit for lacquered floors or a well-wrung damp mop to keep your Salcombe floor clean.

How much wastage do I need?

We generally recommend 10% wastage, but this can vary depending on room shape, laying style, and other factors. Consult your installer for a precise estimate.

How thick is Salcombe flooring?

Salcombe flooring is 14mm thick with a 3mm oak wear layer.

Is Salcombe flooring suitable for a bathroom?

We do not recommend using engineered flooring in a bathroom.

All flooring deliveries are curb-side, meaning you will need to carry the goods into your property. Delivery Details

• Availability: If no one is available to accept your delivery at the provided address, a re-delivery charge will apply when you reschedule.
• Delivery Vehicles: Deliveries can be made in various commercial vehicles, including up to 18-tonne lorries. It is assumed that the property is easily accessible to these vehicle types.
• Access Restrictions: Flooring cannot be delivered to properties with stepped access, flats above the ground floor (regardless of lift access), or left in communal areas. For flats, orders will be left at the ground floor external doorstep. For residential properties with stepped access, flooring will be left at the bottom of the steps. Drivers may need assistance with unloading larger items. If access is likely to be a problem, please inform us at the time of order to discuss alternative delivery options.
• Doorstep Delivery: Doorstep delivery is available for lighter parcels. Depending on the courier, you will receive delivery time updates. Please leave your mobile number when checking out.
