Brecon can be installed over concrete, anhydrite, existing wood floor chipboard, ceramic tiles, terrazzo, metal, PVC, linoleum, slate, marble, particleboard, OSB and plywood – but not carpet. Old parquet block floors can also be problematic. Brecon has its own integral underlay, and additional underlay should not be used.

Does my Brecon floor need to acclimatize before installing?

Yes, we recommend allowing your Brecon floor to acclimatize for at least 24 hours before installation. Keep it in the same room where it will be installed, and ensure it remains within the sealed packaging to prevent warping due to temperature changes.

What condition should the subfloor be in for installing Brecon flooring?

The subfloor must be structurally sound, free from dampness, rot, fungal or insect infestation, and debris. Ensure the surface is flat with no uneven areas exceeding 3mm over a 2m span. Hot pipes should be well insulated to prevent localized hotspots that could distort the flooring.

Do I need to leave an expansion gap for my Brecon floor?

Under normal living conditions (15-25°C), no expansion gap is required. However, allow a gap of 2-3mm for Brecon floors in areas with temperature variations beyond normal living conditions, such as conservatories.

How do I clean my Brecon floor?

You can use our cleaning kits for lacquered floors to keep your Brecon floor shining. Alternatively, use a well-wrung damp mop for regular cleaning.

My Brecon floor has a scratch, how can I repair it?

Small scratches and marks on our Brecon range can be concealed with Scratchfix, a quick and easy method to restore scratches on resilient floors.

Do I need additional underlay with my Brecon floor?

No, Brecon floors come with built-in underlay, so additional underlay should not be used to prevent damage to the joints. If you need to raise the height of the floor, we recommend using plywood.

Is Brecon wood-effect or real wood?

Brecon is wood-effect flooring, featuring a stable mineral composite core and resilient, slip-resistant vinyl.

Can I use Brecon flooring in a wet room?

While Brecon is waterproof, prolonged exposure to continuous water is not recommended. It's suitable for bathrooms but not recommended for wet rooms.

Can I use this floor with underfloor heating?

Yes, you can use Brecon flooring with underfloor heating systems.

What type of joint does this floor have?

This floor features easiloc/click-joints for easy installation.

How can this floor be laid?

This floor should only be floated during installation.

What is the wear rating for Brecon flooring?

Brecon flooring has a wear rating of AC4.

What slip resistance rating does Brecon have?

Brecon flooring has a slip resistance rating of R10.

How thick is Brecon flooring?

Brecon flooring is 6mm thick.
