Elka Herringbone Flooring

Herringbone adds pattern and character to a room, and Elka makes it two ways. Choose real engineered oak for a traditional parquet floor, or waterproof click vinyl if you want the same look somewhere water gets spilled.

Engineered oak herringbone

14mm thick blocks, 600mm x 120mm, with a 3mm real oak wear layer and a smoked, UV oiled finish that brings out the grain. They have tongue and groove joints and are fully glued down, which is the traditional way to lay parquet and gives a solid floor underfoot. Choose from Whitewashed Oak, Light Smoked Oak, Honey Smoked Oak and Dark Smoked Oak.

Waterproof vinyl herringbone

6mm thick rigid core blocks, 630mm x 126mm, with a 1mm underlay already attached. They click together as a floating floor, so they're quicker to fit and 100% waterproof, which makes them a good choice for kitchens and hallways. Choose from Tucker Oak Beige, Kentucky Oak Beige, Kentucky Oak Honey and Texas Oak Dark Brown.

Which should you choose?

Real oak gives you a floor that can be sanded and refinished in the future and has the depth of genuine wood. Vinyl herringbone is waterproof, cheaper, quicker to fit and better suited to kitchens, bathrooms and homes with pets. Both are suitable for underfloor heating up to 27°C.

Fitting herringbone

Herringbone comes as A and B blocks that are laid alternately, so order both and set the pattern out carefully from the centre of the room. We recommend a professional fitter. For the glued oak blocks you'll need Elka Bond Trowel Flex and a notched trowel.
