Description
Treatex Larch Oil prevents weathering damage on cedar and larch. It has high UV and water resistance and will not flake or peel, and it can be used on both interior and exterior timber that has not been finished. It contains no biocides or toxic ingredients and is safe for children's toys.
Key facts
- Pack size: 2.5L
- Coverage: about 35m² per tin in one coat; rough sawn timber can use two to three times more
- Coats: two coats recommended, with about 12 hours to dry
- Best on: cedar and larch cladding, windows and doors
- Not for: timbers with high tannin, such as oak
How to use it
It works best on bare timber. Remove any closed finish, lightly sand porous finishes, and check the timber is dry and clean with moisture content below 18% and a temperature between 8 and 25 degrees Celsius. Treat timber that is susceptible to decay, mould or fungi with a preservative first. Used oily cloths and rags should be laid flat to dry before you throw them away, because oils that cure can heat up and in rare cases catch fire if they are left screwed up.
