Treatex | Douglas Fir Protection 2.5L

Treatex Douglas Fir Protection is a solvent-free exterior finish that gives long-lasting weather protection to Douglas fir. It is made from natural sustainable oils: linseed, sunflower and soybean. Natural pigments provide UV protection without hiding the grain, and Treatex says it is safe for children's toys.

• Pack size: 2.5L
• Coverage: about 20m² per tin in one coat, which is roughly 125ml per square metre
• Best on: Douglas fir decking, garden furniture and fences
• Not for: high tannin timbers such as oak and sweet chestnut
• Conditions: moisture content below 18%, temperature above 8 degrees Celsius, not in damp or humid weather

How to use it

It only works on unfinished timber, so remove previous finishes. Stir the tin before and during use and brush it on along the grain, paying extra attention to the end grain. Treat timber prone to decay or mould with a preservative first, and do a trial application before the main job. Used oily cloths and rags should be laid flat to dry before you throw them away, because oils that cure can heat up and in rare cases catch fire if they are left screwed up.
