Description
Treatex Walnut Oil is a pure buffing oil for untreated and pre-oiled interior timber. It gives a clean, natural finish and helps protect against stains, spills and scratches, which makes it a good choice for kitchen worktops, chopping boards, furniture, children's toys and doors.
It is made from walnuts that cannot be sold whole, pressed and then refined so that it will not turn rancid. Treatex states it is safe for people with nut allergies. There are no waxes in it, so it is a different job from a wax polish or a hardwax oil.
Key facts
- Pack sizes: 100ml and 250ml
- Preparation: sand smooth with 180 to 240 grit paper, and make sure the surface is dry and free of dust and grease
- Coats: apply 2 to 3 thin coats, or until the wood stops soaking it up
- Drying: touch dry and ready to polish after about 20 minutes, with full hardness after several hours
- Use: interior timber only
How to use it
Shake the bottle, then wipe on a thin coat with a lint-free cloth and buff once it is touch dry. Regular topping up keeps the protection going on worktops and boards. Used oily cloths and rags should be laid flat to dry before you throw them away, because oils that cure can heat up and in rare cases catch fire if they are left screwed up.
