Whitby floors can be installed over concrete, anhydrite, existing wood floor chipboard, ceramic tiles, terrazzo, metal, PVC, linoleum, slate, marble, particleboard, OSB and plywood – but not carpet. Old parquet block floors can also be problematic. Whitby has its own integral underlay, and additional underlay should not be used.

Does my Whitby floor need to acclimatise before installing?
Yes, we recommend allowing your Whitby floor to acclimatise for at least 24 hours before installation. Keep it in the same room where it will be installed, and ensure it remains within the sealed packaging to prevent warping due to temperature changes.

What condition should the subfloor be in for installing Whitby flooring?
The subfloor must be structurally sound, free from dampness, rot, fungal or insect infestation, and debris. Ensure the surface is flat with no uneven areas exceeding 3mm over a 2m span. Hot pipes should be well insulated to prevent hotspots that could distort the flooring.

Do I need to leave an expansion gap for my Whitby floor?
Under normal living conditions (15-25°C), no expansion gap is required. However, allow a gap of 2-3mm for Whitby floors in areas with temperature variations beyond normal living conditions, such as conservatories.

For flats, orders will be left at the ground floor external doorstep. For residential properties with stepped access, flooring will be left at the bottom of the steps.   • Doorstep Delivery: Doorstep delivery is available for lighter parcels. Depending on the courier, you will receive delivery time updates. Please leave your mobile number when checking out.
